The AE20 performance is not a standard European performance. They apply specifically to the prison sector in Belgium.
This is a special application of burglary-resistant performance for prison buildings that is characterized by the fact that attackers are allowed to make 2 breakthrough attempts. For each test, two people make a continuous effort of 20 minutes, alternately or simultaneously.
Perimeter Classes
Class P0
Concrete wall, doors and gate in the wall. This is the primary protection of the prison from the outside world.
Static pressure 75 kN
Class P1
Refers to the possible exits from buildings, access to more secure locations or places where extreme aggression can take place.
Static pressure 35 kN
Class P2
Refers to places where prisoners can be alone or in groups, but where it is not possible to enter the perimeter or escape from buildings.
Static pressure 25 kN
Class P3
Refers to places where detainees are allowed to move or work, in small groups and under supervision at all times.
Static pressure 5 kN
TEST WITH STATIC PRESSURE
This test is always performed in the opening direction of the leaf. A force of 5, 25, 35 and 75 kN is applied in the middle of the joinery (depending on the perimeter class). The pressure is applied with a hydraulic pump. The test is decisive if no opening is made when the required limit pressure is reached. The pass of the test is confirmed by the issuance of a report. If the test object is a door, it must still be possible to open, close and lock it after the test. The door is tested in a normal locking situation (with or without deadbolt closed).
